Games On Net has a follow-up on news that Silent Hill Homecoming
has been reclassified for release in Australia with word on why the Aussie
censors changed their minds. They quote the classification board explaining some
content has been cut: "Several depictions of violence have been edited or
removed altogether from the game. This includes the removal of many finishing
moves that contained high level violence, as well as explicit scenes of torture
using a power drill." Though some of the game's gore has been toned down to
permit its release, the article also notes that a minority of the classification
board expressed the opinion that the game's "elements of violence and themes are
higher than strong," and they still favor refusing to classify it for sale.
