Eurogamer
has a follow-up on promised plans to patch Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods to
address the numerous bugs in the RPG expansion, as word from
JoWooD is the patch is still expected before the end of the year. It seems
entirely justified to be concerned that the upcoming fourth game in the series,
Arcania - A Gothic Tale, might be released in an incomplete state,
considering the number of bugs seems to have increased with each release in the
Gothic series, but JoWooD doesn't agree: "That fear is comprehensible, but
entirely unjustified. For Arcania - A Gothic Tale, we have implemented a better
development process and quality assurance tools right from the beginning, which
have simplified the continuous quality protection and will guarantee the
correctness of this product." Another comment from JoWooD seems to imply some of
the problems with the Gothic series has been the fault of previous developer
Piranha Bytes, as they say: "The collaboration with Spellbound, one of the best
German development studios, is very professional." Wrapping up discussion of
Arcania - A Gothic Tale, the publisher adds: "At this moment we can proudly
state that the project is on track and in time."
