According to several different news sites (here's the story on ZDNet) Bill Gates has stepped down as CEO of Microsoft. Steve Ballmer, previously the president of the company will be taking his place, and Bill will become chairman and head of software development. This comes in the light of several problems for Microsoft, including the DOJ's recommendation that they be split into three separate companies.
