It's a console...or is it? Sony has unveiled, at long last, their Playstation 2 (the name's official now). There are several announcements today, including the release date and initial details (March in Japan, Fall 2000 in the US, with an estimated price of $370), word that the development kits are shipping (and are Linux based), and even their network details, including the revelation that in 2001, Sony plans to add an expansion module that will allow for distribution of movies over the Internet to the uber-box. Business Wire has also posted the first images of the box, for those curious what the thing looks like.
