Fed's MEQON Q&A talks with Marcus Lysén of
Meqon about their just-announced deal to
provide the physics engine for Duke Nukem Forever: "It's fast, it's
multiplatform and has the best API structure of any physics engine. Moreover
we have world class character animation/simulation blending and a top-notch
vehicle module."
- Twilight War: After the Fall
RPG
Vault's Twilight War: After the Fall Q&A, Part 1 talks with Kingsley
Montgomery and Matthew Simmons of Smiling Gator Productions about their
recently unveiled source-engine MMORPG: "...we've coined a new term to
describe Twilight War, XORG, which stands for Extreme Online Role-playing
Game. Why? Because we hate acronyms that you can't easily pronounce. :-)
Also, because we think the combination of AI, graphics, storyline and
adrenaline will truly be something that's never been achieved before."
- BioWare
What's
Up, Doc on Voodoo Extreme talks with BioWare joint-CEOs Dr. Ray Muzyka
and Dr. Greg Zeschuk: "If anything, this licensure of a high-quality
externally developed engine serves as a bridge to allow us to get a next-gen
PC and/or console game done in a timely manner, and helps us to continue to
diversify the kind of RPGs we make. We have a very large fan base at BioWare
(two million+ members at the Bioware Community at www.bioware.com) and we
recognize that it helps us to continue to grow our community by expanding
the definition of RPGs, while still retaining the core of a great story,
compelling character interactions, epic exploration and really fun character
progression."
- Atlantis Evolution
There's an
Atlantis Evolution
Q&A on Adventure Gamers talking with Eric Safar of Atlantis Interactive
Entertainment about Atlantis Evolution, their upcoming adventure game based
on the sunken city: "We are using a proprietary engine based on point &
click navigation and warping. We also made enhancements such as the water
effects. We pre-rendered a shader in a 3D rendering software that we
improved with a homemade plug-in. We decided to use this engine for Atlantis
Evolution because most adventure gamers are familiar with this type of
navigation and don’t need to first learn the game functions. They can just
dive into the story."
- Meridian 59
The
Meridian 59 Q&A on GameRifts discusses
Meridian59- Resurrection
with Brian Green of NearDeath Studios: "Currently, the game requires a
Pentium I (yes, ONE) 100 MHz or better machine with 48 MB of memory. Our
estimated minimum requirements for the new rendering engine will be a
GeForce 2 or equivalent video card, DirectX 8.1, a 500 MHz processor and 128
MB of memory. These new requirements are subject to change as we work out
the last few kinks and problems. But, I think most people will be able to
play the game without problems if they bought their computer within the last
few years."
