The Battlezone 2 Community Project Forums has news of the release of the first public beta of Battlezone II version 1.3, an unofficial update for Activision's 3D action/strategy sequel. The new version includes enhanced modification support, Win2K/XP/DX8&9 compatibility, bug fixes, a new audio system, graphics tweaks, bots in deathmatch, and still more. As the accompanying disclaimer notes, this is an "as is" release: "The Battlezone II 1.3 patch comes with no warranty, to the extent permitted by applicable law. Except when otherwise stated in writing the copyright holders and/or other parties provide the package 'as is' without warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied, including, but not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose and the accuracy of the information contained within it.
