'99 article is up, giving a look at the hardware used at the event, as well as the event itself, through the eyes of the crack AnandTech staff. The piece includes photos (including one of me, but not in the cowboy hat), and the brief analyses of the hardware
includes discussion of the Athlon systems used (where we learn they were non-production motherboards), the ATI Rage Fury Pro, the G3s used in the press tourney (as well as an
iBook on display), and the simply marvelous switched network supplied by Lucent and
Lynksys that resulted in <10 ms pings across a network of hundreds of machines, and
supported something like 112 players in a single Q3Test map.
