Anyone around these parts who went out in the wee hours to see the meteor shower was disappointed, unless they regard a rain shower as an adequate substitute. That's okay, I'm pretty sure they'll have figured out how to overcome the climate in time for the next shower of such noteworthy intensity, which may be several hundred years off (though it may be as early as 2099). Of course I'll be a Futurama-style brain in a jar by that time at best, so I guess I'd better start regarding the rain shower as an adequate substitute, too....
