As they do every year, Wired News serves up its Vaporware 2001: Empty Promises, a look back at technologies and games that were promised for a release in 2001 but didn't quite make it. Among them are the Indrema Linux console on #10, Team Fortress 2 on #4, WarCraft III on #2 (up from #6 in last year's list) and Duke Nukem Forever taking the top spot (last year at #2). For completeness sake, it should be pointed out that some previous vaporware entries, such as Black & White (last year's #3), were eventually released to critical and commercial acclaim.
