I'm saddened by the lost of a bestie, as our friend and neighbor's yellow Lab Sandra went over the rainbow bridge yesterday. I've described my affection for her and her adopted brother Adler, as they both responded to my love of dogs by loving me back big time. With Adler this was after a little time, but Sandra took to me so quickly and strongly we joked I was her boyfriend. In the end she had lung cancer that spread, and while she remained in good spirits and fairly comfortable, it eventually sapped all her strength, so yesterday was her time. But what a good run she had! I only just learned what a senior she was, as she made it to 15½, a ripe old age for any dog, much less a Lab. So while we're sad she's gone, we're pleased she had such a long happy life filled with so much love. And we're all looking forward to Adler's chance to be the star for a change, as he sort of lived in her shadow, much like our Gunnar-man did when Hudson the wonder dog was still alive. Gunnar had a fantastic doggo second act, and I predict the same for Adler.
