A WRC Development Update from EA SPORTS is more of an un-development update, announcing the end of the WRC series of rally racing games. Word is: "After releasing EA SPORTS WRC in 2023, the 2024 season, including the recently released Hard Chargers Content pack, will be our last expansion." Though it fought to purchase Codemasters in 2020 after a deal had already seemingly been struck, EA already went on a spree earlier this year to delist a bunch of other titles by the British developer. The announcement invokes a couple of other deceased rally racing series in announcing it is stepping back from the dirt track for the foreseeable future. A xeet from FIA World Rally Championship indicates the future of World Rally Championship games lies with another partner:
What a ride it's been! Over the past three years, WRC has been elevated to another level in the gaming world thanks to the dedication of EA SPORTS and Codemasters. Now, our WRC gaming franchise is going in an ambitious new direction with more news coming in the near future. Until that time, gaming fans can continue to experience the pinnacle of rallying on EA SPORTS WRC.
