A thread called A comment from Linda about this latest flurry of news has an update from Sir-tech Canada's Linda Curry with a bit more on the rumors and realities of their situation after this morning's now-debunked rumor (next story), reassuring fans that Wizardry 8 will still be released. Here's the update:

I just wanted to stop by and let you all know that there is really nothing any different than yesterday. As you know, back in July we announced layoffs but cited our complete intentions to bring Wiz 8 to market. That is still the case. Wiz 8 WILL be released.

We have mentioned previously that unless funding for future products could be obtained, that Sirtech would no longer develop titles. That too is still the case, though as time passes, more and more of us who were involved in the development of Sirtech products will move on to other employment.

Sirtech Canada does continue to exist as a legal and operating entity for the purposes of supporting the release of Wiz 8. At this time, there are no plans for Sirtech Canada to develop further product.

I hope that clears things up at least to say that there is nothing any different about the release plans of Wiz 8.
