Startup studio Pomme announces a multi-license deal with science fiction author
Alan Dean Foster, whose works include book adaptations for
Star Wars (I'm
sure I still have a ratty copy of
A Splinter of the Mind's Eye around
here somewhere),
Star Trek (including a credit in
Star Trek: The
Motion Picture),
Alien,
Transformers, and
Terminator.
Foster will also consult, and the first project from this collaboration is an
adaptation of his 1975 novel
Midworld, which some
consider the inspiration for
Avatar. Additionally, "Pomme has established
an Advisory Board of entertainment giants to help steer the Alan Dean Foster
projects. It includes Alan Wilson, Co-founder of Tripwire Interactive, publisher
of Killing Floor and Red Orchestra, and Jon Radoff, CEO of Beamable, who has
worked on Game of Thrones, Star Trek and Walking Dead games." Here's
more:
Alan Dean Foster will be bringing his world-renowned Midworld, as
well as other titles, to games, thanks to an agreement with newly-founded
international studio Pomme – where he will also work closely with the team in an
advisory role.
A New York Times best-selling author, Foster has written several book series,
over 20 standalone novels, plus novelisations of movie scripts including Star
Wars, Alien, Terminator, Transformers and Star Trek. His agreement with Pomme
will see at least 14 of his works to games, including previously published
novels and eight unpublished works, released in a series called ‘Alan Dean
Foster Presents…’. The first will be an adaptation of Midworld – the book that
launched Humanx Commonwealth, which will be published by Pomme’s publishing arm
Sunset Sugar Studios on PC via Steam in 2026.
