Out of the Blue

Hats off to my hometown NY Mets, who managed to snag a playoff spot yesterday. The team has a huge payroll, so this shouldn't be a shock, but its record was 10-25 at the end of May. This projects to a 46 win season, but going 79-48 after that bad start led to them finishing as the hottest team in baseball. But I'm still not getting too hopeful about winning it all. The team hasn't won the World Series in 38 years, and ironically, that last championship was considered the end of a "drought" since the Miracle Mets won it all 17 years before that. But on the bright side, the Chicago White Sox become the worst team in modern MLB history has the news that with 121 losses this season, the ChiSox surpassed the 120-loss 1962 Mets for the most losses in a season in the modern era.
