Atari 7800+ Announced

Revived publisher Atari announces the Atari 7800+, expected to launch this winter as a scaled-down "faithful" update of the original Atari 7800 console system from 1986. Like its forebear, this will run both Atari 2600 and 7800 cartridges. Modernizations include HDMI support for modern TVs, a wireless controller with USB charging, and a brand-new sequel on a 7800 cartridge. Development and launch of the original 7800 was disrupted by one of first times the Atari name changed hands, and then had a rocky run during the rise of Nintendo, but the announcement refers to it as a "best-seller." The 7800+ is a scaled-down, compact edition of the console that seamlessly integrates into modern living spaces. Equipped with HDMI connectivity, it effortlessly links to contemporary TVs and devices. Each console ships with the CX78+ Wireless Gamepad and a brand new title, Bentley Bear’s Crystal Quest — a sequel to the classic Crystal Castles, presented on a specially designed 7800 cartridge.
