The Precinct in August

Publisher Kwalee and developer Fallen Tree Games announce an August 15th release date for The Precinct, a sandbox police procedural game coming to PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. This is the brainchild of Jim Walls, a former police officer who was part of the development of Sierra On-Line's Police Quest series back in the day. This is a bit of a surprise, as a Kickstarter was announced in 2013 but was quickly cancelled after failing to gain traction. At the time the plan was to create a smaller prototype to shop the project around. This obviously worked, but it's been quite some time now. The Windows version has listings on the Epic Games Store and Steam, and a new Official Release Date Reveal Trailer is here with a look at gameplay. You can read on for more, but remember, let's be careful out there:
A love letter to classic cop movies, The Precinct combines police sim detail with action sandbox spectacle. Patrol the streets and respond to callouts to fight criminals petty and powerful. Choose your own tactics in thrilling chases and shootouts. Feel the shifting power struggles of Averno's gangs in a living city full of procedurally generated crimes, from parking infractions to bank heists, street racing to drug deals.
