It turns out that yesterday's story about possible problems with beta code in some Black & White CDs (story) was indeed inaccurate, loony posted a follow-up earlier today, but I prefer to follow the edict that follow-ups should have at least as much prominence as the stories they are correcting, hence this story is basically redundant with the 'etc.' piece below. Here is a bit of the apology posted on PlanetBlackAndWhite, source of the original report:

Just to rectify everything now, and in case you missed what happened, we stated that the copies of the discs people had were betas due to time constraints. This is bollocks.

I won't try to define bollocks here, but they are confirming the report was false.
