Rise of the Triad Remastered Announced

A tweet from 3D Realms announces Rise of the Triad Remastered, a first-person shooter remake coming next year to PC and consoles. The original ROTT was built on an enhanced version of the Wolfenstein 3D engine and released by Apogee in 1995. Designed by Tom Hall, this offered incredibly imaginative gameplay and some forward-thinking features including class-based characters, jump-pads, NPCs that feigned death, power-ups, ludicrous gibs, destructible objects, achievement rewards, and more. A Remastered Reveal Trailer (NSFW) shows this is in the works at Slipgate Ironworks as a brand-new port of the source code, which was publicly released back in 2002. Here's word from Frederik Schreiber on the enhancements in the new version:
We're brining back Rise of the Triad for Switch, Xbox, PlayStation, and PC with a brand-new source port. Widescreen support, mouselook, revamped multiplayer. It's a really cool collaboration between us here and 3D Realms, Destructive Creations, and Apogee Software. It's going to come next year.
