Today is Independence Day here in the US, ostensibly celebrating the nation's
birthday, though fitting 244 candles onto a cake is a daunting proposition. This
occasion normally inspires some warnings of the inherent dangers of being out
and about while people are drinking and playing with explosives. This year
carries the additional hazard of COVID-19, though this probably will reduce the
risks from those other factors by lowering the turnout at gatherings. We will be
laying low here. There will be some grilling in Manstovia and possibly some
adult beverages, but we will just see whatever fireworks we can from the deck.
This is basically the same thing we did last year, so it's not like the pandemic
is actually causing our plans to change. If you are celebrating, here's hoping
you have a fun and safe time.
