A free weekend is now underway
on Steam for
Squad, a tactical, military first-person shooter that's currently working its
way through Early Access (thanks IgWannA). This provides the chance to check out a new Alpha 17
patch that just went live, adding a commander role, among other things. You can
read the patch notes
in this post which is accompanied by
a video showing off
what's new. Here's word on the game:
Squad is a large scale combined arms multiplayer first-person shooter
emphasizing combat realism through communication, team play, emphasizing strong
squad cohesion mechanics as well as larger-scale coordination, tactics, and
planning.
It features large open maps, vehicle-based combined arms gameplay, and
player-constructed bases to create a heart-thumping, visceral gaming experience
with split-second decision-making in real-world scale firefights.
