Surviving the Aftermath Announced

Presuming you have already endured on the red planet in Surviving Mars, Paradox Interactive announces Surviving the Aftermath, a new game that will turn this into a series when it's released next year for Windows and consoles. And for those who have not yet experienced Surviving Mars, they take the occasion to remind everyone that this will become the next Epic Games Store freebie on Thursday. Eschewing exclusivity, they also announce the new game will come to both Steam and the Epic Games Store, though they only mention the latter for Early Access later this year. They don't offer much detail on the new game beyond this Teaser Trailer, but say a full reveal is coming in under two weeks at PDXCON 2019 in Berlin. The announcement also kicks off a Surviving Mars mapping competition:
Paradox Interactive today revealed Surviving the Aftermath, the next game in the publisher’s Surviving brand, will launch in late 2020 on Epic Games store, Steam, Xbox One, and PlayStation® 4. Players who want to get in on the ground level will be able to purchase and play the game later this year in Early Access on the Epic Games store and Xbox Game Preview. Additional details about Surviving the Aftermath will be revealed on Saturday, October 19 during PDXCON 2019 in Berlin.

Surviving Mars, the survival colony builder developed by Haemimont Games and the first game in the Surviving brand, has experienced record growth in 2019. Since the Green Planet expansion launched in May, Surviving Mars saw eight times the amount of monthly active players, surpassing its launch player peak by 19 percent.

“With the staggering growth of Surviving Mars this year we knew we had something special and we wanted to find new ways to utilize survival management gameplay,” Nikhat Ali, Lead Producer on Surviving the Aftermath and Surviving Mars at Paradox Interactive, said. “Surviving the Aftermath gives us the opportunity to experiment with these mechanics in new and interesting ways that we think our players will love.”

To introduce Paradox’s Surviving game lineup to more players, Surviving Mars and all of its DLC are heading to the Epic Games store on October 10. Kicking off as part of Epic’s Free Games Program, the Surviving Mars base game and Space Race DLC will be free to download from Thursday, October 10 - Thursday, October 17. After the free period, the game will be available to purchase for suggested retail price $29.99.

To commemorate the game's growth and launch on Epic Games store, Surviving Mars is having a modding contest where modders can create new animals for the Project Laika expansion and win prizes. For more details on how to participate in the modding contest, please visit:
