The new Pirate Emporium update is now live in Sea of Thieves, bringing
new voyages to Rare's seafaring action/adventure. This also adds the new
Black Market
with a whole new microtransaction system. Here's a new
video developer update
on what's new. This
post has all the details, explaining that there are no pay-to-win elements
to this, and that all purchases are strictly cosmetic, even the puking monkeys.

It’s a big release and contains a lot of content including new Voyages, Duke’s Black Market cosmetic shop where players can spend Doubloons and gold, more aggressive Skeleton Ships and even roaming Skeleton Sloops!
We’re also very pleased to finally launch the Pirate Emporium, our new premium store selling a range of items such as pets, emotes and ship liveries including some that celebrate Rare’s rich heritage.
