Valve Layoffs

Upload VR reports that Valve Corporation has laid off 13 full-time employees and terminated some contractor agreements as well (thanks VNN). They say these lost jobs are centered on the hardware and virtual reality side of the business, and offer research from the company website and LinkedIn as support. They also discuss previously leaked information about Valve's plans to release a new VR headset of their own, and speculate about whether these plans will change, noting that Valve continues to hire VR-related staff. They have an official confirmation of the departures, though Valve does not go into any of the speculation about what roles the affected workers served. Here's word:

Last month, 13 full time employees were let go and a portion of our contractor agreements were terminated. Itís an unfortunate part of business, but does not represent any major changes at the company. We thank those affected for their contribution and wish them well in future endeavors.
