Happy Independence Day to all who are celebrating the occasion here in the U.S. And since those celebrations often involve liberal doses of alcohol and amateur application of high explosives, please be careful. This is a round number anniversary, as we stand 240 years out from July 4, 1776, so we are just a decade off from celebrating the Declaration of Independence's sestercentennial or semiquincentennial (yes, I looked those up). There's an old "brain teaser" American children pull on each other based on the alternative name for this holiday where you ask "Do they have the 4th of July in England?" The answer is yes, they have it everywhere, it's right there on the calendar between the third and the fifth. So in that vein, happy fourth of July to everyone!
