Thanks to everyone who had thoughts on the broken arm suffered by my Aeron chair, in particular to Verno, who suggested eBay might be a source of parts. This put me onto just how fixable these chairs are, and I have a replacement bolt on the way that should do the trick. This cost all of 10 dollars and if it doesn't result in a complete repair, replacing the whole surrounding mechanism won't be that much more expensive that that. It can be fun to get new toys, but once the old toys hit a certain age, it's more fun to keep them going, so the prospect of getting more life out of this chair after 16 years is making me very happy, and certainly helps justify its initial expense.
