Looking forward to the Game of Thrones season finale tonight. I agree with the assessment that the show has changed substantially since it ran past the books, and while I regret the move towards more traditional hero fiction where characters have conspicuous (sometimes embarrassing) plot armor, the improved pace of the show is welcome, and I suspect the elimination of some of the filler may hold part of the answer to George R.R. Martin's recent question to Stephen King.
