Well my phone/internet switchover continues to be rough, as the companies involved don't seem capable of properly providing the services that I need, which may be part of the reason that most customers are getting rid of them. They certainly don't make it hard to want to cut the cord when they basically cut it for you. I'm complaining too much, as actually I think everything may be worked out as of this morning. Yesterday the flaky phone line "healed" itself before the scab repair technician had to come out, so that was easy, though why it started working after being out all weekend remains a mystery. This meant everything was working, except we then discovered our whole home DVR service got shut off at some point. A call to Cablevision confirms this was done by accident, and had something to do with us having a grandfathered rate they no longer provide. They say this is fixed now, but will take a couple of hours to come back. The good news is they claim we didn't lose any recorded shows due to their centralized design, but I'll believe that when I see it.

My favorite bizarro tidbit from the process? Finding Verizon wants to charge $5.00 extra per month to not list a phone number in public directories. We truly live in miraculous times.
