Episodic Duke Announced

WEB Corp. has announced that they have licensed Duke Nukem from 3D Realms, and will be creating a "webisodic" Duke game for distribution on their web site early next year (note that this is not Duke Nukem Forever!). As the press release contains zero information about the game they will be making, we contacted 3D Realms' Scott Miller to find out more. Here's what he told us:

WEB Corp. was started by Jim Perkins, whom George [Broussard] and I have known from 1991, when Jim worked at FormGen, one of the leading shareware companies back then. FormGen branched into retail publishing in the early- to mid-90's and commercially released several of our shareware titles, as well as titles by id Software. They also published Duke Nukem 3D before GT Interactive bought them in late 1996.

WEB Corp. has purchased the right to recreate the original two Duke Nukem side-scrolling games using updated tech, but this will not impact our internal development of Duke Nukem Forever in the least. At this time I do not believe a third-party developer has yet been contracted.
