A new feature on IGN with a first look at a couple of the characters in Battleborn, the teamplay shooter in development at Gearbox Software for release in May. These are Ghalt, "the veteran peacekeeper," a military veteran described as a "good guy and a good leader," and Deande, "the Jennerit spymaster," a stealth/deception character. They offer videos for each character along with details on their backgrounds and play styles, as well as touching on how they will be unlocked:

"When you get the full retail game, you'll start with seven characters available, and as you play through the story and challenges, you'll unlock the rest of the characters pretty quickly," Creative Director Randy Varnell said, speaking to IGN.

"But Ghalt and Deande, because they are central to the story mission, will unlock later on in the progression. We want you to encounter them first interacting with you about the story, then later you get to unlock them and make them your own. These are characters that are extremely central to the plot of the game."
