WildStar Free-to-Play Launches

NCSOFT and Carbine announce that the free-to-play era has now begun in WildStar, their sci-fi RPG that launched as a subscription game. This cinematic trailer shows things off, and this previously released FAQ tries to answer all our questions about this. There are more changes afoot than the business model, as this post has details on lots of other changes they've made to what they're now calling WildStar Reloaded, including new rewards, early game improvements, crafting improvements, upcoming bonus events, and more. Here's word:

NCSOFT® and Carbine Studios™ announced today that WildStar is now free-to-play. Today, new and returning players in Europe and North America can get a free ticket to planet Nexus and experience all of the epic WildStar content that has been released over the past year.

“Today is an important milestone in WildStar’s history and the team has been working very hard to make sure the game is better than ever”, said Mike Donatelli, product director, Carbine Studios. “We received a ton of positive feedback from our fan base through our closed beta and have worked to create a game that is fun, accessible, and engaging for all players”.
