Nordic Games Acquires Nexus

Nordic Games announces they have acquired the rights to create and publish new games in the Nexus series of space-based real-time strategy games. This hasn't really been much of a series to this point, as it has only produced one game so far, Nexus: The Jupiter Incident, which was released in 2005. A sequel called Nexus 2 was announced in 2011 which resulted in a Kickstarter the following year, though this failed to attract the funding they sought. Here's the deal on the deal:

Nordic Games announced today that it has closed an asset purchase agreement with HD Publishing (formerly known as HD Interactive) to acquire the intellectual property “Nexus” which had its only release in “Nexus: The Jupiter Incident” in 2004, which has been published by Vivendi SA (formerly known as Vivendi Universal) and HD Publishing.

The acquisition itself is being handled by Nordic Games Licensing AB, based in Karlstad, Sweden, whereas the day-to-day business (sales and distribution, evaluation of sequels & new content etc.) will be conducted by Nordic Games GmbH, based in Vienna, Austria.

“We think that Nexus was one of those heavily overlooked, hidden gems in the niche of Space-RTS.”, comments Reinhard Pollice, Business & Product Development Director at Nordic Games. “We hope to start working on a sequel in the near future.”
