announces the release of Zombi for Windows, PS4, and Xbox One,
offering other platforms a crack at the zombies from the 2012 game known as
ZombiU for WiiU. The news is accompanied by
this launch trailer,
and here's word:
The back alleys of London can be dark and spooky even at
the best of times, but when you add the threat of tough, flesh-hungry zombies
lurking around every corner, they become downright nightmarish. With only a few
bullets and a cricket bat for protection, how long can you last against the
undead hordes of Zombi? And perhaps more importantly, will you be able to wrest
your stuff back from your own zombified remains after one bite too many? You can
discover the answers by downloading Zombi, available today for PlayStation 4,
Xbox One and PC.
An updated port of 2012’s ZombiU, Zombi trades the Wii U’s second-screen
controls for improved performance, as well as two new melee weapons – a
longer-range shovel and a more damaging nail bat – that can give those who find
them an edge in combat. Zombi’s flashlight has also undergone a few changes,
giving you the option to focus it into a stronger, wider beam at a greater cost
to its batteries – which now take 30 seconds of darkness to fully recharge.
Even with the changes, however, Zombi works hard to retain the claustrophobia
and tension of the original. The mini-map may be on screen now, but juggling
your inventory is just as stressful as it was on Wii U; the contents of your bag
now obscure your view without pausing the game, forcing you to rely on hearing
and peripheral vision to sense any approaching shamblers. And when your
character dies, permadeath means you’ll start as a new survivor with minimal
gear – unless, of course, you want to try finding and fighting your former self
for the contents of your bug-out bag.
Zombi is available for $19.99 on PS4, Xbox One and PC. For more details on the
changes from ZombiU to Zombi, be sure to check out our
