SafeDisc Broken Under Windows 10

PC Games Hardware has a report in their native German on compatibility issues present in SafeDisc that prevent games using this form of copy protection from running under Windows 10 (thanks Rock, Paper, Shotgun). The most recent version of SafeDisc is from 2006, and it is no longer in use, but it is still present in the many games that made use of it during its heyday, so this will present problems for those looking to play older games (such as Grand Theft Auto III and Battlefield 1942). Here's a crude machine translation of an update to the German article:

In the meantime our request by Rovi Corporation (formerly Macrovision) was answered. The SafeDisc copy protection is no longer supported accordingly for several years, to the driver was no longer working for a long time accordingly. At the latest in Windows 8 Microsoft would have to the existing software have simply migrated. Whether the 10 no longer easily possible with Windows, or whether one has just saved, is not known to us.
