Gamereactor UK has first details on Worms WMD, a new installment in Team17's strategy series based around surprisingly well-armed invertebrates, noting that their new conflict will include tanks to drive and buildings to enter. They have a preview along with a video interview discussing the project and showing snippets of gameplay. They also offer some excerpts with the first details on the game, which remains true to its hand-painted 2D roots, though they are redesigning the worms for a slightly new look. "This new worm, he's all new, he is a redesign. We're looking for something that looks a bit more contemporary, something that looks a bit more modern," explains Team17 creative manager Kevin Carthew. "The two art styles are purposefully contrasting; the landscape looks like hand painted images, the worm looks a lot simpler, clean lines. He's a little bit more angular. And that's intentionally done because it makes it visually more easy to read for the player. It's obvious what should be the landscape, and what are the interactive elements."
