Space, the Early Access team-based space combat game.
This post the detail on all the new content this adds, and
this one has details on a subsequent hotfix.
This trailer offers a
look at the current state of the game, and here's word on the two new ships that
are the centerpieces of the new update:
T.D.S. LEVIATHAN
TDS Heavy - large powerful, ship with multiple weapon systems and the ability to
create Jump Points. Both main weapons - Tempest Cannon and Fusion Beam - require
warm-up before firing. The Tempest can be aimed quickly to react to close range
targets (inside 15km) - the Fusion Beam fires forward only but can deliver a
devastating attack to targets up 20km away. The Jump Point systems can create
temporary Jump Locations lasting 30 seconds allow the Leviathan to bring in
allies to anywhere on the map. However the creation of the jump point takes time
(10s) and is hazardous (the Leviathan is very vulnerable during this period).
U.S.R. RANGER
The Ranger is fast ship with a decent range on its main weapon (Longbow cannon
20km) - this has a hold and charge system allowing you to hold and release at
different rates to sacrifice damage for rate of fire (inside a small window. The
Ranger has the ability to heal itself using Shutdown and Repair at the cost of
shutting down almost all its systems and rendering itself vulnerable, it must
therefore find a place to hide before activating this ability.
The Ranger can place homing stealth mines that will home in on approaching ships
(these are however still work in progress). These can be detected by the usual
stealth detection mechanics in-game, and can also be destroyed from a distance
and by point defense.
