Starbreeze reveals they are working on their own entry in the presumably
emerging market for virtual reality hardware, as
GameInformer has first-hand impressions of playing a demo of Starbreeze's
upcoming Walking Dead shooter played on a prototype Project StarVR
headset. These are being made in cooperation with InfinitEye and the demo also
utilized a gun peripheral from Trinity VR based on a concept they
once floated on Kickstarter. They note the main differences between what
they saw and the VR headsets from Valve and Oculus Rift is that Project StarVR
features a 5K display with a 210-degree field of view for enhanced peripheral
vision. They mention issues with pixelation and the screendoor effect, but offer
reasonably positive impressions of head tracking and aiming, though they note
the demo was a rail shooter featuring a character in wheelchair.
