Out of the Blue

There's a special annex in technology hell for the dreaded "known issue." You know, those wonderful moments when we encounter an bug, and find out that other users have been reporting the same problem for years, but never enough of them to actually inspire the company responsible to address the cause. Yesterday in adding an album I accidentally pointed iTunes (a piece of software that qualifies as an annex of tech hell in and of itself) towards my full music library, rather than the subset I keep on my phone, which led to iTunes complaining there was not enough room on my phone for all of it. That was all it took to trigger an issue that has plagued users for years, as the phone allocated the space for the update, and then orphaned that data, leaving the music library empty and the phone thinking it was full. No amount of manipulation of the phone or where iTunes was looking for music would clear this up, and there are numerous posts spanning years from other users frustrated by this problem. This has never inspired a response or a solution from Apple, but one post pointed the way to a third-party program called iMazing (formerly DiskAid) which finally saved me by allowing the deletion of the corrupted music files. This was a relief, as the next solution I was going to attempt was to see if smashing the phone with a sledgehammer would help, which may have involved paying royalties to Gallagher.

Oh yeah, and Cutter asked if I was worried I was going to "jinx" the Mets by talking about their relative success. But what are the chances that would immediately happen?
