The Mets and Yankees are each in sole possession of first place in their respective divisions, the latest in the season both local baseball teams could make that claim since the conclusion of the 2006 season. If I thought this was a sustainable situation I would wait until the end of the season to comment on it, but given the recent history of the Mets (and me making fun of them along the way), I figure they deserve some congratulations for a successful third of a season.
