A
Blizzard post to the Diablo III forums indicate they are looking at
re-working the game's Infernal Machine events, originally intended as end-game
content for the action/RPG sequel, as they are a lot of work for little payoff at
this point. Word is: "Right now there is a disparity between the footwork
required to participate in the event and the reward for completing it, so we’re
currently looking at our options to better align the two. We’re currently aiming
to have a solution in place for the next major content patch, but of course as a
work in progress that’s subject to change." That major content patch is to come
between seasons three and four,
and
this post reiterates they expect the season to last at least three months,
and they will give two weeks notice before it concludes (more details are in
this
recent post). Finally, they
announce Diablo
III Anniversary Event Buffs from today through May 21st to celebrate the
third anniversary of the game. Oddly, these buffs are only for the console
editions. Even more oddly none of them are three yet, as the third anniversary
of the previous-gen versions will be September 2016, and the third anniversary
of the current-gen versions will be August 2017. Meanwhile, the PC edition,
which seems to be ignored by the celebration, was released exactly three years
ago today.
