I upgraded my PC yesterday for the first time since I built it, adding a spiffy
new GTX
970 (I got the Gigabyte Gamer G1 model which is carrying a rebate). I'm very pleased to be able to bump up the textures and other settings in
GTA5, as the game looks that much more fantastic. What I didn't expect was how
much smoother this would make running desktop applications, as running two 1080p
monitors was (in retrospect) obviously putting more of a strain on my old GTX 760
than I realized. The little
bit of lag and other hitches were minor enough that I never specifically
identified them as video performance issues, but now that they're cleared up,
I'm sure swapping the cards back would drive me crazy.
