I commented on Groundhog Day(s) that there seemed to be a dispute over whether (weather?) shadows were actually seen, making the omen hard to interpret. Now, well over six weeks later, the wintery weather lingers in this area, so the shadow confusion may be because there is no option for the groundhog to predict *more* than six additional weeks of winter. Apparently what's going on here right now is a byproduct of some insane windiness we've been getting in this area, as the scattered snowflakes we're seeing today are said to be lake effect snow from Lake Ontario, which is not exactly what is considered a local waterway around here.
