A Steam Community announcement has details on a new beta version of the Steam client for those who have opted-in to the beta program. This includes a number of changes for game broadcasts and also adds a frames-per-second counter to the Steam overlay. This is still in beta, so it's not shocking that it's still a work-in-progress, and this post offers one user's critique of the new feature and how it could be improved.
