A thread on NeoGAF
has an outraged reaction to the removal of DSfix from Dropbox due to a Digital
Millennium Copyright Act notification from BANDAI NAMCO Games Germany (it was actually BANDAI NAMCO Europe). Users are
up in arms over the idea that the publisher would quash a utility that overcomes
technical shortcomings in the Windows port of Dark Souls, especially
since it does not actually contain any infringing content that would justify a
DMCA takedown. This ends well, however, as it turns out the takedown was a
mistake from a company hired to wipe out illegal debug mode content for the
action/RPG that ended up pursuing this task a little overzealously, and the
program is to be once again be legally available to all. Thanks Jago.
