West Games is back at trying to raise funds for their own spiritual successor to
the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series (thanks
PC Gamer). Their first go at this with a game called Areal went poorly, as
questions about the legitimacy of the project led to it being
suspended by Kickstarter, as claims
that a AAA game could be developed for $50,000 were met with widespread
skepticism. They have now launched a new crowdfunding campaign on
World Wide Funder seeking
$600,000, for a project called STALKER Apocalypse. That sounds like it
might be infringing on the acronym title from the "S.T.A.L.K.E.R." series, but
they don't see it that way, saying: "We have registered a trademark for Stalker
Apocalypse, and have every right to use it as our title. Stalker by itself is a
common word, and anyone can use it."
