Trainz: A New Era in February

N3V Games and Deep Silver announce a February 27, 2015 release date for Trainz: A New Era, a new installment intended to propel the railway series into the future (except for the whole s/z dealie). A new video features the game's developers discussing the game's interface and graphics, and here's word on the release date:

Trainz: A New Era will ship supporting multiple languages, and will be released via major digital online retailers Steam and Simulator Central, as well as traditional physical retailers throughout the world making it available to both rail fans and casual gamers.

Trainz: A New Era is built upon the new custom "E2" engine specifically designed for Trainz. With support for modern hardware, the engine will deliver more realistic graphics and a range of new features such as procedurally generated animated junctions and realistic train motion based upon track condition.

Key features include:

  • New graphics engine with full world shadows and per-pixel lighting
  • Real-time physics feedback and editing tools
  • Procedural animated spline junctions
  • Realistic cab sway and external train motion
  • Configurable control schemes
  • Multi-window support
  • Multiplayer
  • In-game downloadable content system for both payware and freeware options
  • Access to over 250,000 free DLC items via The Download Station
