Had a super-unexciting adventure yesterday with a car breakdown. It was very close to home, but the car ceased to go into any gear, making a grinding noise when I put it in park. This raised fears that it was the transmission, which would be a death sentence for what is in essence a beater. It turns out to be an axle problem instead, which should be practical to fix, but we are still waiting to see if there are any complications that will change that outlook. The crazy part was needing to wait a couple of hours for roadside assistance, as we were close enough to home that I could have pushed the car home myself in the time it took a tow truck to arrive.
