A post on RIVA Station
offers a disturbing report that ASUS has announced plans for drivers for their
AGP-V7700 and AGP-V7100 that will unabashedly allow players to cheat. Here is a
quote from ASUS from the story: "There are three special weapons for ASUS
VGA cards’ users – Transparent View, Wireframe View, and Extra Light. If you
do not have an ASUS VGA card – be careful! Never compete in the 3D games with
anyone who has an ASUS VGA card. Because the only result is to loose
(sic)." We don't like this any more than we did when the folks at Wicked3D
tried a similar move a while back (they quickly recanted after objections from
horrified gamers started rolling in), and we will offer up whatever links to
appropriate protests and petitions we can find on this one.
