A new Drag Pack expansion is available today in the Americas for GRID Autosport, offering the chance to test your driving skill a quarter mile at a
time in Codemasters' racing game, no high heels required. Here's
a trailer showing off
the pack, and here's a quick rundown, drag race style:
The Drag Pack features three custom drag strips at the Hockenheimring, the
Autosport Raceway and Detroit, each featuring routes of up to a mile. Players
will also receive three blisteringly fast drag cars to master, nine new Single
Player Championships (including practice, qualifying and knockout races) and an
online multiplayer mode. In addition to racing the new cars in the pack – a Hot
Rod and two Funny Cars which will reach speeds of over 300 m.p.h. - players can
also race the vast majority of the cars featured in GRID Autosport, including
the game’s Hypercars and Supercars.
Each vehicle that takes part in the Drag Racing mode can be custom tuned
prior to the race, for example, gear ratios can be tweaked for optimal
acceleration or a higher top speed. Gamers then complete an authentic staging
process as they go head-to-head with an opponent. Fast reactions are critical to
get the best possible start. Once underway, players must then time their gear
changes carefully to achieve peak acceleration. In addition to timing gear
changes, players will also have to contend with torque steer, which requires
counter steering to correct it. Each race is a tense and thrilling contest where
timing, technique and nerves of steel are rewarded.
