Congrats to the fans in Kansas City for
setting a new record for loudest stadium crowd, breaking the coveted
achievement by hitting 142.2 decibels last night. At least I guess it's coveted,
though I'm glad I wasn't there to experience it, as 142 dB is between a trillion
and a quadrillion times more powerful than the quietest sound the human ear can
detect, and more than loud enough to cause hearing damage... if you feel bad
that you missed out, you can recreate the experience by heading to the nearest
military airbase and standing nearby with no ear protection while one of the
jets takes off. Word is the Chiefs handed out 36,000 pairs of earplugs to the
game's 76,000 attendees, so apparently they only hate around half their fans.
