Anachronox Cut in Half?

According to a news item at UK gaming site PC Format, Anachronox, Tom Hall's upcoming Quake II engine RPG, will be significantly reduced in order to ship this year, with a sequel containing the rest being released at a later date (it should be pointed out that Anachronox has always been planned as the first in a series of games). The piece is actually reporting on Eidos' current financial difficulties, but it contains this part of note: seems that the highly promising Anachronox is undergoing a radical redesign so that it hits the shelves as soon as possible. It's a highly ambitious game, epic in scope, but current rumours suggest that the original design document would take the game's development well into next year, something Eidos literally cannot afford. As a result, it appears the game has literally been cut in half, with the rest of it being slated for a future release.
